Compared to other manufacturers, Zastava oružje AD has gone one step further by offering a rifle that, in addition to easy barrel replacement and the possibility of using barrels of different lengths, also enables a change of caliber and a choice between the conventional 7.62×39 mm and the new 6.5 mm caliber. The reason for the introduction of the new caliber is that the 6.5 mm round has a number of ballistic advantages compared to the 7.62×39 mm that allow for a significantly longer range, as well as greater efficiency and penetrating power at all distances, and at the same time it is possible to keep all the vital parts of the rifle and switch to another caliber just by replacing the barrel and magazine. The easy change of caliber has a number of logistical advantages in terms of easy adaptation to situations in the field. The design of the MCS rifle is based on the existing platform of rifles that Zastava arms is known for and which operate on the Kalashnikov system. The modification is reflected in the design of the transverse lock on the receiver, which enables easy and quick exchange of the barrel, without disassembling the rifle and without using tools. In addition to barrels in different calibers, within one caliber there are different barrel lengths (254 mm and 415 mm), which allows the rifle to be quickly adapted to the most diverse combat situations. Changing the caliber of the rifle also requires changing the magazine, and the magazines are clearly marked and noticeably different. The rifle has been in use in the Army of the Republic of Serbia since 2025. Basic characteristics M20 • Easy replacement of the barrel, without any tools • Non-reciprocating charging handle • Possible change of side for non-reciprocating charging handle • Non-reciprocating charging handle adapted to right-handed and left-handed shooters – by changing the side on which the handle is located • Fire selector is ambidextrous with three positions: safe, automatic and semi-automatic mode • Gas flow regulator • The flash hider on the muzzle is at the same time a muzzle brake, and the standard thread on the muzzle enables the installation of a silencer • The Picatinny rail along the entire length of the cover enables the mounting of optoelectronic devices according to tactical needs • Telescopic stock with 5 predefined lengths folds to the right side • Adjustable cheek pad • Handguard with Picatinny rails at 6 and 12 o’clock and K-holes that allow mounting of optoelectronic equipment The ergonomics of the rifle are exceptional because, in addition to the ambidextrous controls (charging handle, magazine catch, fire selector), the shape of the stock and the mass distribution ensure a balanced system without large recoils. У поређењу са осталим произвођачима, Застава оружје је отишла корак даље понудивши пушку која, поред једноставне замене цеви и могућности коришћења цеви различитих дужина, омогућава и промену калибра, са избором између конвенционалног 7,62×39 mm и новог калибра 6,5×39 mm. Разлог увођења новог калибра је чињеница да метак 6,5×39 mmима низ балистичких предности у односу на 7,62×39 mm,које омогућавају знатно већи домет, као и бољу ефикасност и пробојну моћ на свим даљинама, уз задржавање свих виталних делова пушке и само заменом цеви и оквира прелазак на други калибар. Основне карактеристике Модуларне пушке М19 Селектор паљбе има 3 положаја: Аутоматски, полуаутоматски и укочени. Промена калибра се врши брзом и једноставном заменом цеви, без употребе алата. Пикатини шина целом дужином поклопца. Ручица за запињање може бити на левој и десној страни, погодна за десноруке и леворуке стрелце. Ручица за запињање се не помера током паљбе. Селектор паљбе је обострано постављен, изнад рукохвата, лако доступан. Телескопски кундак са подесивом образином је преклопив на десну страну. Поклопац и облога цеви осим Пикатини шина имају и бочне К-отворе који омогућавају монтажу широког спектра оптоелектронске опреме. Регулатор протока барутних гасова Скривач пламена је истовремено и гасна кочница, а стандардни навој на устима цеви омогућава монтажу других уређаја. Ергономија пушке је изванредна јер, поред обострано доступних команди (ручица за запињање, дугме за копчање оквира, селектор паљбе), облик кундака и расподела масе осигурава избалансиран систем без великог трзаја.
